The air springs are responsible for raising the chassis of your axles, and are often made in replacement of gas shock and strut suspensions. Your vehicle may use either strut/gas shock suspensions or springs, but most higher end vehicles lean towards using air springs. Also known as airbags or air bellows, these rubber devices are useful but can crack and leak gas if the sustain damage. That alone will be enough to take your wind while driving.
If your airbags leak, they will not be able to save your life in the case of an accident. Don’t run the risk of driving if you have this issue. Take the safe route and have mechanic come by and fix it right on your driveway.
