Your vehicle won’t start in Park or neutral, thanks to this switch. This is important so that your car doesn’t explode by getting a huge flow of gas while you’re in drive. Near your transmission, the switch will be attached to your shifting mechanism or gear change.
Without a functioning switch, your car is automatically much more dangerous. Not only does an improper start jerk the engine, but this can lead your car to have functions that don’t work in the road (functions that would be turned on when your car starts properly) and will effectively leave you unsafe in the car.
