What Is An EVP Shut Off Solenoid

The EGR, or exhaust gas recirculation system, is responsible for allowing gases to continually flow through your exhaust system so that your combustion chamber can achieve the fullest burn. By burning more gases, less harmful pollutants will be emitted into the air while at the same time improving your engine performance.

The EVP shutoff solenoid’s job is to ensure that no gases in this recirculation process enter the intake at a the wrong time. While the engine warms up and contains dust and particles, the EVP solenoid needs to close the valve via an electric current otherwise your vehicle will intake a lot of contaminated air.

Common Signs And Symptoms That You Need to Replace An EVP Shut Off Solenoid

  • Engine stutters or stalls at high speeds or while accelerating
  • Engine is performing poorly
  • Check Engine Light

How Important Is This Service?

Like having other components in the EGR system such as the temperature sensor, having a faulty solenoid will mean your car will have compromied performance, mileage and emissions control. This will end up costing your more in the long run and leaving you vulnerable to failing emissions tests, so we recommend you have a certified technician come by and replace the part immediately.

One of the best car experiences I've ever had. 10/10. Booked and quoted on the phone. George was a really nice guy. Knowledgable and practical. Only did the work that was needed with a head's up of when to expect future service. All for a competitive price while I continued with my normal day in my own home. Why didn't anyone think of this before?! I will definitely use them again and recommend to my friends.
