Before computers controlled your car’s current and voltage, the ballast resistor coil was in play. The ballast resistor is responsible for lowering the voltage applied to the coil so it will not burn out prematurely or even overheat at all. By doing so, it protects the battery from being overwhelmed and instead allows the optimum level of current to flow. This way, the battery can still flow strongly when it's needed, such as when you start your car, but it will never go to the extreme and die out.
The only way to have your car work with a faulty resistor is by trying to send a jump start through the resistor, though this can lead to electrocution and hurt your internal components. If you face the above symptoms, have a qualified mechanic come by to inspect and fix your vehicle immediately.
One of the best car experiences I've ever had. 10/10. Booked and quoted on the phone. George was a really nice guy. Knowledgable and practical. Only did the work that was needed with a head's up of when to expect future service. All for a competitive price while I continued with my normal day in my own home. Why didn't anyone think of this before?! I will definitely use them again and recommend to my friends.
