The trunk latch holds your valuables firmly closed inside the back of your vehicle. When engaged, only a key fob or a physical insertion of a key should be able to disengage the latch. An anchor handle and latching mechanism are the two components that make up most trunk latches in modern vehicles.
The latch can be anything from the hook and lock cylinder complex built into the trunk, to something similar to a door lock actuator, comprised of many motors and sensors that must work in unity to ensure the latch works properly.
If it is not broken but you still see issues with your trunk, you may need a latch adjustment. A faulty trunk latch is not simply dangerous to you, but other drivers on the road. People have been charged before for having items fly out the back of their trunk and impair other drivers and even cause damage to them or their vehicle.
If you feel that not having furniture or some kid’s bicycle fly through your front window is something all drivers should feel pretty safe about, do the person behind you in traffic a favour and get this replaced immediately.
One of the best car experiences I've ever had. 10/10. Booked and quoted on the phone. George was a really nice guy. Knowledgable and practical. Only did the work that was needed with a head's up of when to expect future service. All for a competitive price while I continued with my normal day in my own home. Why didn't anyone think of this before?! I will definitely use them again and recommend to my friends.
