The EGR, or exhaust gas recirculation system, is responsible for allowing gases to continually flow through your exhaust system so that your combustion chamber can achieve the fullest burn. By burning more gases, less harmful pollutants will be emitted into the air while at the same time improving your engine performance.
The vacuum modulator is a diaphragm that opens or closes based on your engine’s vacuum speed. When vacuum increases, the vacuum will open, whereas an idle vacuum will leave it closed.
Like other components in your EGR such as the solenoid or the temperature sensor, having a faulty vacuum modulator will spell trouble for your vehicle. Your car will likely not pass emissions tests, fail to idle or run smoothly, or even face internal engine damage if you do not have it repaired. We recommend you have a qualified mechanic come by and fix it right away.
One of the best car experiences I've ever had. 10/10. Booked and quoted on the phone. George was a really nice guy. Knowledgable and practical. Only did the work that was needed with a head's up of when to expect future service. All for a competitive price while I continued with my normal day in my own home. Why didn't anyone think of this before?! I will definitely use them again and recommend to my friends.
