On the body of each of your car’s doors, there’s a bolt or hook known as a striker. Often a door latch is connected to the striker on the inside of the body to create a better fit. Some older vehicles have the striker plate on the exterior rather the interior of the vehicle. The striker plate is a hardened metal mechanism that prevents wear and ensures the doors are closed tightly. When the door handle is lifted, a mechanism releases the striker from the striker plate, and the door is able to open. Striker plates often have a safety catch so the door doesn’t unwantedly fly open when driving and another catch to hold the door down for full closure. As it is protective and largely about creating full closure, you can save by tightening rather than replacing your door striker plate.
The striker plate being intact and firm is vital for a safe drive, as in the event of a collision it is quite dangerous to have the car door fly open. If the striker plate is not lubricated and tight, unsecured persons or belongings may fall out. We recommend it is replaced immediately if any of the above mentioned symptoms are noticed.
One of the best car experiences I've ever had. 10/10. Booked and quoted on the phone. George was a really nice guy. Knowledgable and practical. Only did the work that was needed with a head's up of when to expect future service. All for a competitive price while I continued with my normal day in my own home. Why didn't anyone think of this before?! I will definitely use them again and recommend to my friends.
