MOBILE CABIN AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT AT YOUR HOME OR OFFICE

If you are concerned about your health and that of your passengers, changing cabin air filters is very important. When you are driving, exhaust gases from vehicles in front of you, as well as pollen and other harmful substances, are pulled into your car as if you are driving inside a tunnel. Because you are in an enclosed space that is rather compact, the concentrations of these substances can be six to ten times greater than they are outside. The cabin air filter works much like the air filter in your home’s heating and air conditioning system, filtering out all the harmful substances. A dirty, clogged cabin filter will not be able to trap those airborne allergens, dirt, and dust causing you to breathe air that is dirtier than it is outside. This is certainly not healthy for anyone, but especially for those who deal with environmental allergies and asthma.

WHAT IS CABIN AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT?

Cabin air filter performs the same duties for your HVAC system as the engine air filter does for your car’s engine. The cabin air filter is a small pleated filter made of multi-fiber paper cotton or other engineered material. Before entering the passenger compartment, outside air is directed through this filter to trap the contaminants inside the filter and prevent them from entering the inside of your vehicle.

HOW IS CABIN AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT DONE?

  1. Open the glove box and take out the contents
  2. Remove the limiting stop arm
  3. Release the glove box
  4. Remove the old cabin air filter
  5. Clean filter chamber and check seals and gaskets
  6. Install the new cabin air filter
  7. Replace and secure the glove box

RECOMMENDATIONS

Most automotive manufacturers recommend replacing the cabin air filter every 15,000 to 30,000 miles. At the very least, the cabin air filter should be replaced once a year.

SYMPTOMS THAT INDICATE YOU NEED A CABIN AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT

  • An excessively contaminated cabin air filter will not be able to filter the incoming air as effectively as a clean filter would.
  • Another symptom of a bad or failing cabin air filter is an unusual odor coming from the vehicle’s interior vents. An excessively contaminated filter may produce a dusty, dirty, or musty smell.
